All orders, from one item to thousands, are manufactured to meet the customers' needs in a timely manner. Donald Dean, a native of the hardwood forests of Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains, started a sawmill operation in 1932. Soon to follow was a concentration yard and a wholesale lumber business. By the early 1950's, a building with dry kilns was constructed for the manufacture of wood parts and components. This was the beginning of a company that has spanned 60 years and now uses the knowledge and experience of three generations.

Our growth has seen further building expansions. There have been the addition of a second plant, several modern dry kilns, lumber storage sheds and a new office building. Recent capital improvements illustrate the commitment of Donald Dean & Sons to quality and service. Completed in only the last few years are a complete dust collection system, an automatic wood-waste burning boiler and automated lumber-inspection and handling equipment. These assure an uninterrupted, independent supply of properly kiln-dried lumber. A computer system provides the flexibility to expedite accurately an order for 500,000 fully machined frame parts or a single raised-panel door.

Important to Donald Dean & Sons and its customers is a work force that values skill and attention to detail. To apply their craft, our men and women use machinery we have selected for dependability and sophistication. In daily operation are double-end tenoners, automatic shapers, multi-head mortisers and double-side profile sanders. To oversee their efficient use and to guide future development, our personnel continue to widen their education in wood technology, business management, furniture design, lumber grading and computer programming.

Donald Dean & Sons maintains its position as a major supplier of wood products on a stock production basis. We manufacture mortised and tenoned frame parts, cabinet doors and drawer fronts, in addition to a variety of face and edge-glued, moulded, shaped, routed, bored and sanded components. Our custom operation, to which one plant is devoted, expanded our capacity to include specialty doors and drawer fronts made in any quantity specified. These products of exceptional quality are available to customers who require responsive service and prompt delivery.
